Rye Almost Beats Portledge School

The Girls Varsity Hockey team at Rye Country Day School, continuing on their season long improvement, almost beat Portledge School 1-0 in the open air night game Tuesday at Beaver Dam Winter Club in Locust Valley, NY. The RCDS girls were holding onto a 1-0 lead on a goal by Harley Caggiano late into the 3rd period. While Portledge was pressing the whole game, they perhaps started off a little slowly given the 6-0 win the last time the teams met. The Wildcats played much better defensively, although they had a hard time with face-offs. Unfortunately with under a minute left in the game, Portledge pulled their goalie and were able to score after a scramble in front of the Rye net with 20.6 seconds remaining forcing the 1-1 tie.

RCDS was outshot 47-16 with Emma Budke in net for Rye
